I’m shooting Lindsey and Gary’s wedding in 2010, and we met up last Sunday to kick things off with their engagement shoot! They drove down from St. Joseph for our River Market shoot last Sunday and we had a gorgeous day to work with. (I think when you see the shots you will agree!) We also wandered a little off the beaten path and found some cool places to shoot. Guys, I am so excited to shoot your wedding next May!!!

Lindsey + Gary: engaged
September 30, 2009Devin L: senior shoot
September 28, 2009Devin had an abundance of gorgeous scenery at her disposal for our senior shoot last Saturday. Her next door neighbor allowed us full access to his gorgeous property, including small private lake with island. And we used it to its fullest extent…though we will both admit to being just a bit scared of running into a snake while exploring such places as the island (snakes = VERY bad in my book!) But, no snakes, and great shots.
Devin was a natural in front of the camera even though at times her horse Eddie wanted do be anywhere but in front of a camera
– we managed to make it all work out and THEN some. And her neighbor? A fellow pilot. He was at a fly-in at a neighboring grass strip and was actually circling over us while we were shooting! Too funny.
Seriously. Can she be any cuter?

And seriously. Can the landscape be any prettier?

Olivia H: senior shoot
September 27, 2009Next in a series of many blogs to come is Olivia’s senior shoot. We were a bit discouraged when we met up and found that not only were the skies cloudy, they were getting downright ominous at times during the shoot with sprinkles here and there. Once it started getting darker, we tried something a bit different and played around with some off-camera flash. Results below.
The Moores
September 25, 2009Sylvie and Sadie were FULL of energy when we met up Tuesday night for their photo shoot. So, we let them run, play, skip, play patty-cake – and all was well (ok, well all was well if you also add in a pizza-for-dinner bribe). I haven’t done a ton of family shoots – but really enjoyed the time I spent with these two girls. And after we finished…we all went for pizza.
Sylvia started out with a HUGE case of the bashfuls. Sadie did her best to get her to open up.

Is that a smile I see peeking out? Busted.

A little playing on the grass and all was well – well, except for a few grass stains on the white dresses!

Sarah N: Senior Shoot
September 23, 2009How ’bout a little country all? We did Sarah’s senior session on her family’s farm property last weekend and had some great scenery to work with – and a vintage GMC truck to boot. This shoot was fun for me because I’ve known Sarah since she was veeeeeeery small. Yeah, I don’t feel old. at. all. Here’s some highlights from the shoot.
Megan + Kyle: Married
September 21, 2009The forecast called for sun. Then the forecast called for rain. The weather wouldn’t make up its fickle mind. It didn’t matter. Megan and Kyle knew – knew they were meant for each other, knew they were meant to be married on a perfect day. So it came with no surprise that the weather was a typical stunning early-fall Missouri day complete with the obligatory incredible sunset – and yes, there even was a RAINBOW from a passing rainshower to the east. Immediately after the ceremony. Perfect. No surprise. This was one of the most fun weddings I’ve yet to have the honor of attending as photographer. And the Lone Summit Ranch, host to both the ceremony and reception, fit Megan and Kyle perfectly. It was gorgeous AND fun. As you scroll through the images below, I think you’ll agree as well that Megan is one incredibly hot bride. Yeah, she could work it.
Barring something last-minute, this was my last wedding of 2009! It left me super, super excited for 2010. Yay!!
I seriously could not decide on a bouquet or dress shot. Too many choices. So you are getting two of each.

The always super-sweet gift exchange

love that smile when the dress goes on

gazebo+sunset+a little artificial backlight = win.

just a brief reception recap – more to come – but the ring bearer had mad. dancing. skillz.

congrats guys!!!!
Margaret + David: Married
September 16, 2009Here’s a preview of last Saturday’s wedding. Margaret and David’s day was one filled full of emotion – as a photographer, I find myself grinning, getting choked up, experiencing perhaps the same emotions as the people I shoot on their wedding day – maybe just not to the same extent, of course. I think one of the most poignant moments I’ve ever shot at a wedding occurred when Margaret’s mom saw her for the first time in her wedding dress. I didn’t just get choked up – yeah, I had to hide some tears. Margaret and David, congratulations on your marriage and I hope your future is as golden as the sunlight we had for your bride and groom shots!
(ok, that was a bit of a stretch as an analogy, but I’m blogging after midnight, cut me a break, ok?)
Thanks goes to Brent Christopher (owner of Christopher Video) for assisting along with my husband Jim!

Derek: senior shoot
September 13, 2009This was a really fun shoot. We started out at Derek’s house for photos with the family’s dogs Tigger and Barney, plus an antique fire truck – then on to the West Bottoms for some exploring and photos with Derek’s motorized “toys”. The light was especially nice that evening – as you’ll see – and we added some fun off-camera lighting as well. I had a VERY hard time narrowing down some of my more favorite shots – especially with Derek’s motorcycle, so just included several.
