The Holiday Sale is here!!

November 27, 2009

And it’s a good-’un! 25% of ALL print products from now through December 10th. Which means, for all of you who have been saying “you know, there are still photos I want to order….” well, your procrastination has paid off! :) How do you take advantage of the discount? Well, go to my main site and click “client proofing” – and browse through the event or shoot you’re interested in, select your items, and when you go to your cart, enter “SDPHolidaySale” into the coupon box and apply the discount. Voila, savings!

A lot of you probably received this in an email. I DO NOT LIKE SPAMMING but I do send these holiday sale emails once per year. In the future, (like as soon as possible!) I’ll be creating a newsletter that you can sign up for at the top of this very blog, which will feature specials and news for those of you who wish to receive them. In the meantime, there are various news items in the sale ad below (same as was emailed out) – not only do we have the 25% off print sale, but I’m offering FREE ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS to those of you who book weddings by February 15th! Email for details! Also, I’m now offering gift cards starting at $25, which is great for those family members and friends who have been wanting a print, or even a shoot done.

SDP Holiday Sale

…and more will be coming! My long-awaited product guide will be finished and linked on the blog and website this week, and will feature detailed information about all of the products that SDP offers. Below are some photos of a few of our samples – albums, prints, canvas wraps. And, we’ve got MORE samples coming. MORE wedding albums. MORE canvases. MORE print options and MORE ideas for the seniors, and families….smaller albums to suit these types of sittings. I’m so excited!!

To start things off, here is but a bit of what we can do for you.

Prints and canvases
XW1L0516
SDP offers many different print options. Not only can you have your enlargements printed by our SUPER lab on everything from matte photo paper to metallics, textures and even elegant art paper, but they can be mounted to a number of substrates such as styrene (a dense, rigid plastic-like material) and foam core. Adding these backings makes your enlargement much more durable and will help it stand the test of time. Of course, it’s hard to show the various paper options in a photo – so schedule an appointment to see for yourself!

What we can show are our canvases. The finishing is superb and there are lots of options – from types of hanging hardware to backing, depth of the canvas frame (1.5″ and 2.5″ are available) and finish. These are ready to go right on the wall, with the image wrapping completely around the sides of the frame. Truly a conversation piece.

Albums
XW1L0915

We realize that not every budget allows for a slick flush-mount album. So SDP offers THREE different grades of albums. All of these albums are available in multiple size options and with numerous cover styles – everything from leather to linen to image wraps. The standard album in our product guide is priced with 15 spreads (30 pages) and an image-wrap cover. Options are priced as add-ons to this standard album, including cover options, different sizes and additional spreads.

We’re pretty proud of our flush-mount albums, and our printer delivers product SUPER FAST, compared to other suppliers. This is the “album option B” available with some of our wedding packages.

Our next option, our mid-level option, comes from the same supplier as our flush mount. The pages, while still thick, are somewhat flexible compared to the completely rigid flush mount pages. They lie perfectly flat, and the color reproduction is incredible. This sample is shown with the optional dust jacket.

Our final option is our most economical. Pages are hinged at the binding to lay flat, and are a heavy coverstock weight. They can be UV coated for additional durability for an additional charge. This particular sample is laid out as a guestbook album with blank spaces for wedding guests to sign (engaged couples, here’s a GREAT idea for your engagement sessions!) with a leatherette cover. The image wrap cover (as with the previous two versions) comes standard with this option. This album is “album option A” in SDP’s wedding package descriptions, and is also a great option for guestbooks and senior and equine session albums among many other uses!

More products coming soon – and as always, email me with questions about these or any of our other products!

For regular visitors of my main website, you are going to notice a BIG change. To reflect the massive growth of my business in the wedding, engagement and portrait areas, I am changing my equine site over to a senior and portrait (yes, including equine portraits, I’m not abandoning you horse folk completely!) site. Right now if you click on the “senior and portrait” button you’re going to get a site that is in various stages of reconstruction, and for a while will largely feature my equine work. I hope to have this project completed in the next 24 hours, and then, the wedding website will be undergoing a facelift with updates to the badly neglected galleries. It’s wonderful to be caught up! :)

And for those of you who have asked or who are bound to ask, I AM still going to be doing equine and farm shoots – please visit the portrait section of the new site for more information on this, or email me for an information sheet. I will also still be doing a handful of USDF dressage shows next season – as much as my wedding clients will allow, that is – they’re pulling me away! :)

Have a GREAT weekend!

Bailey B: senior shoot

November 10, 2009

We had a definite Plaza theme running this past weekend, and it continued on Sunday with Bailey’s senior shoot. This girl can work. it. out. I was bummed that the sun went away PRECISELY as we arrived for the shoot – but the light was beautiful regardless, and we shot right up ’til dark. Isn’t she absolutely, stunningly BEAUTIFUL????

Emily and Tom: engaged

November 9, 2009

Emily and Tom live in Davenport, Iowa presently – where Tom is attending chiropractic school. Since they live such a long way away (I’ve driven up there before – it’s a bit of a hike!), we had to plan their engagement session WAY in advance. Emily was nervous about the weather, and understandably so – we’ve had measureable snowfall by now some years – and watching the news last night, the meteorologist pointed out the record low was ONE DEGREE. One. single. degree. Emily emailed me a couple of weeks beforehand, and asked if we might be able to go the weekend before if the weather looked iffy for the Saturday we had scheduled.

No need. Last Saturday – our originally scheduled Saturday – was the most gorgeous day EV-ER. I mean, photographers don’t dream of sheep leaping fences. We dream of days like this. Emily and Tom brought along Maddie, their dog, to be a part of the shoot. We wandered the quiet, early-morning streets of the Country Club Plaza, then found some quiet alleys and facades in the Crossroads District. Here’s a sample of what we happened upon. Guys, I can’t wait for your wedding next year!!
