Cara and Ryan are good friends of good friends of mine…or, to simplify, I knew them before I shot their wedding. I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while, because they were having their reception at a place that is near and dear to me – the Airline History Museum at Kansas City’s Downtown Airport. It’s a very funky and very cool venue – dance floor set among 3 historic airliners, and the hangar opens to a beautiful view of the Kansas City skyline. Of course, I’m partial to hangar receptions as my husband Jim and I had our reception in a hangar at the Lee’s Summit Airport.
Due to the timing of the day, Cara and Ryan set up a separate bride and groom after-shoot that got weathered out the day after the wedding (surprise, huh, with the weather we have been having!). We’ll be rescheduling soon, so stay tuned for more from the two of these when we get that completed!
A special thanks to my second shooter, Mike Tsai of 4Honor Photography. Mike is a blast to work with, and will be second shooting more weddings for me later this summer and fall. And speaking of Mike, let’s get the party started below with an INCREDIBLE timed-exposure shot Mike got of the museum’s Lockheed L1011 while I was inside getting the bride and groom to do some nighttime skyline shots. Some guys have all the fun!

The morning started at the salon in a FROG CHOKING downpour. Thankfully, THAT didn’t last all day.

details, details! This wedding was full of AMAZING ones. Starting with the killer red shoes.

There are those red shoes again!
