Ashley + Scott | Loose Park and Country Club Plaza engagement session

November 21st, 2011

Ashley and Scott finish up a long busy string of fall engagement sessions for SDP. We shot on a chilly evening last week – and STILL had fall color to work with (note to 2013 clients – you can go pretty late and still get fall color!). After shooting around Loose Park, we headed to […]

Ashley and Scott finish up a long busy string of fall engagement sessions for SDP. We shot on a chilly evening last week – and STILL had fall color to work with (note to 2013 clients – you can go pretty late and still get fall color!). After shooting around Loose Park, we headed to the Plaza and finished up with some fun dusk/night shots – one of my favorite parts of shooting this time of year is getting more of a chance to use lighting!

Cameon + Joe’s engagement session | fall leaves and SMILES

November 21st, 2011

Isn’t Cameon’s smile just infectious? She and Joe met me on a gorgeous, golden morning and we got some really nice fall colors despite the mid November date. These are my type of folk – HORSE folk! 🙂 Cameon is a equine veterinary resident and accomplished rider, in fact. We shot around Loose Park and […]

We shot around Loose Park and the Plaza for their engagement session, and had lots of fun. You’ll see these two again pretty darn soon on the blog – I’m really looking forward to their New Year’s Eve wedding!

Andrea + Troy | an elegant late-fall Memorial Hall wedding

November 17th, 2011

Andrea and Troy’s wedding was the first time I’ve shot at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas – which before this couple booked the venue, I didn’t even KNOW was a wedding venue. Boy is it ever! The ceremony and reception space were SO elegant. Andrea was stunning in her dress and fascinator – and […]

Andrea and Troy’s wedding was the first time I’ve shot at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas – which before this couple booked the venue, I didn’t even KNOW was a wedding venue. Boy is it ever! The ceremony and reception space were SO elegant. Andrea was stunning in her dress and fascinator – and her look fit the space and the vintage vibe of the venue SO well. I felt like I was in the 1940s at times!

when we got back to Memorial Hall and completed the family photos, we had about 30 minutes until ceremony time. I’d envisioned this shot in the cavernous arena all afternoon – and had just minutes to bring it to life (Andrea wanted a dancing shot – one taken outside of the reception!)

Lisa and Cory continue the streak of engagement sessions I shot last week (all for 2012 wedding clients!). Jennifer + Nate | a rustic country Kansas engagement session

November 14th, 2011

Jennifer and Nate met me on a blustery afternoon last week for their engagement session – but who cares, with light and scenery THIS gorgeous? You can look for them in equally gorgeous scenery next fall at their Weston Red Barn Farm wedding! (ps Nate, hope you got a deer last weekend 😉 !)

It’s here! I’m finally (mostly) moved into the new studio. Come by the open house next Thursday and take a look! CaraSue Hall will also have a concurrent open house at her new Dalla Cima Salon (right next door on the same floor!), what a great time to not only check out her salon services, but also her full-service wedding makeup and hair work. I’m super excited to have her next door, so clients can utilize her prior to shoots! Our new studio is PERFECTLY suited for babies, small children, and boudoir sessions right in-house, plus, we have the quaint Liberty square right out the door and several fantastic nearby parks for location shooting.

The studio is in old downtown Liberty, and from I-35, is most easily accessed by exiting at 152 Highway and heading east into Liberty. Just stay on 152 until it turns into Kansas Ave, and eventually as it hits the downtown district it will go to one lane. You don’t need to turn at all until you hit the square – after you pass the old courthouse on your left (impossible to miss), take a left on Water Street and go straight past Jesse James Bank on your right (on the corner of the square). 111 N. Water Street is a 3-story brick house that sits RIGHT behind Jesse James Bank. There is a small parking lot on the near side of the building, and PLENTY of street parking as well.

In other news, quickly: please note that the studio will be closed next week on Monday and Tuesday, as I’ll be attending a two day photography workshop. I will not have email and voicemail access these two days, so please be patient! The studio will also be closed November 23rd – November 27th for the Thanksgiving holiday, as I will be traveling to Kentucky to spend the weekend with family.

And did someone mention holiday? YES, the SDP 3rd Annual Holiday Sale is coming! 25% off everything in the online ordering galleries from November 25th-December 9th. Stay tuned here on the blog for more information and the discount code – 2011 clients will also receive an email with the information.

Have a great weekend, everyone, and hope to see you at the open house!
