Stacey + Phil | engaged….and some quick 2015 studio notes

February 5th, 2015

Today I’m featuring a special couple – because it’s my sister and her fiance! (no, I am not shooting their wedding! πŸ˜‰ ). They get married in just a short 10 days from now, on Valentine’s Day. We did this session last fall, at the last minute, in an opening I had come available. What […]

Today I’m featuring a special couple – because it’s my sister and her fiance! (no, I am not shooting their wedding! πŸ˜‰ ). They get married in just a short 10 days from now, on Valentine’s Day. We did this session last fall, at the last minute, in an opening I had come available. What a gorgeous day it ended up being.

Before we get to the photos (I know you want to see them!), here’s a quick studio notes for this season. First, I’m almost booked for weddings for this year, so if you are interested in getting on board, do so quickly! As of now, most of my availability lies in November and December, though I do have scattered dates available through the rest of this year. 2016 inquiries are *just* starting to roll in. So…you think you want to have me photograph your big day, and perhaps your engagement session. How does this work? First of all, give me an email to get the downloadable price list and wedding guide. My weddings start at $2650, and although I do have packages, they are highly customizeable. If you really like what you see, great, let’s talk! We can schedule a time to meet in my studio in Liberty, MO for a consultation – or via phone or skype if you aren’t local. At that point, you’ll have a contract that I’ll go over with you. If you decide you’d like to book your date, I do hold all wedding dates for clients for 72 hours after the initial consultation. After that time, dates become available and are first-come, first-served. Meaning, the first bride and groom to submit their signed contract and retainer for a date get that date. It’s the only fair way to conduct business, especially for highly sought-after dates during peak season!

Secondly, portrait sessions – which include families, boudoir, seniors, and pet sessions – I’ll be releasing dates for my mini session dates and boudoir marathons for ALL of 2015 next week. I will also release new full-session pricing, which will be greatly simplified this year, at that time. I’m very excited about this year and plan to unveil a lot of new options for sessions shot at my studio in Liberty, that I’m pretty darn excited about! Please note that I will only be shooting mini sessions on set mini session dates! Otherwise, I book full sessions. Look for the full details on these mini session and boudoir marathon dates next week, and a link to my new portrait pricing! It’s not too early to start thinking about spring sessions, holy cow, it’s getting into February already!

So, now that all of the housecleaning is done, here’s Stacey and Phil!

I’m very excited to announce, in conjunction with CaraSue Hall of Dalla Cima Salon, my two boudoir marathon dates for 2015! Perfect for brides-to-be, for a birthday or anniversary present, or just because. The two options for these hour-long sessions are:

1. $399 – includes digital files with print release, 1 hour of photography, and professional hair and makeup on-site
2. $450 – includes a 6×6 “little black book” (album), 1 hour of photography, and professional hair and makeup on-site

The two dates for this year are Saturday, February 7th and Sunday, April 12th. If you are on the fence about doing a session – DO IT! These will likely be my only marathon dates in 2015. Once wedding season starts, it is nearly an impossibility for CaraSue and I, who both work a lot of weddings, to have a common weekend date available. However, my full boudoir sessions are available at any time of the year on weekdays.

These sessions are shot in my studio, which is located in a 100+ year old Century Home just off the downtown square in Liberty, Missouri, featuring gorgeous hardwood floors, vintage furnishings and simply stunning natural light. Most ladies can get 3-4 complete outfits photographed in this length of time.

Please email me if you are interested in booking! A $100 nonrefundable deposit (can be transferred to another date on the off chance you should be ill or otherwise!) is required at booking, and the balance is due the day of the session.

Starting on Friday, November 28th (otherwise known as Black Friday, THIS Friday!) at 12:01am and running through midnight on Friday, December 12th, you can receive 25% off all products, digital files and images ordered online by using the discount/coupon code SDPHoliday.

If your session/wedding/event occurred in 2013, you can access your galleries by going to www.sarahdickersonphoto.com, clicking on “proofs”, then navigating to your gallery – or at the direct link to my proofing site here.

If your session/wedding/event occurred prior to 2013, your gallery will be in my old proofing site at this link. Images are up clear back to 2009!

*AN IMPORTANT THING TO NOTE ABOUT GALLERIES PRIOR TO 2013!!!!*
I switched gallery hosting 2 years ago. I have been paying to keep old galleries up, prior to the 2013 season, for that period of time, and it’s time to say goodbye to the old galleries. They serve no purpose other than an ordering system (unlike my new gallery hosting, which also serves as an additional online backup of full-resolution images), so it’s time to shed that additional cost. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING PURCHASING anything PRIOR to 2013, please do so! Not only can you take advantage of this sale, but these galleries will go OFFLINE on JANUARY 1st, 2015. After this point, if you need a gallery re-posted, I will have to charge a $25 unarchiving fee to dig the files out and create a new gallery, on the new system, since it does take time. Consider this a fair warning, you have 5 weeks πŸ™‚

NOW BACK TO THE SALE.

The discount code SDPHoliday will work on both sites! If you have any questions about accessing your gallery or don’t remember a password, please email me and I’d be happy to help.

Happy shopping!

A couple of announcements to make:

1. The print sale, due to end at midnight tonight, has been EXTENDED to midnight Sunday night (December 15th). I still have some clients trying to get their orders together and I figured having the weekend to work on orders would be more convenient for everyone. So please, shop away! The discount code on both proofing sites is SDPHoliday (see full details of the sale here).

2. There is now a winter boudoir marathon on the calendar! It will be held January 25th at the studio. Sessions last one hour (with full hair and makeup by CaraSue Hall prior to your session). Coming up! – and some notes on 2014.

August 31st, 2013

2013 has been a VERY good year so far. And 2014 is going gangbusters in the booking department for weddings. 2013 has been a VERY good year so far. And 2014 is going gangbusters in the booking department for weddings. With that being said, it’s time for a periodic “State of the Studio” address and some reminders for 2014 brides.

As I announced in the top section of this blog, I am not accepting portrait sessions right now outside of regular clients (of which I have several sweet “faithfuls” πŸ™‚ ). This would include seniors, families, and “standalone” engagement sessions not booked with a wedding package. I am instead concentrating efforts on my forte, which is wedding work.

Now, for 2014 weddings. I only have a handful (and I mean *HANDFUL*) of slots left for 2014. Yes, the season is nearly booked. My inquiries have really picked up the past 3 weeks. If you have inquired and are thinking of getting together with me for a consultation, or if you have met with me already, please know that the 2014 books are very, very close to being closed. I would hate for anyone to be left out! Now, what constitutes booking? I want to make sure no one loses their date, first and foremost. I give all couples who meet with me, whether it be in person, via skype or via phone, 72 hours in which their date is held. After this time, if you still haven’t made a decision, that’s fine! But, please understand that your date is open, and at risk of booking. I cannot hold dates without a signed contract and retainer. A verbal “yes, we’d love to book you!” does not constitute a booking. (believe me, as much as I’d love to say it does, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been told that over the years and the couple in fact did NOT book for whatever reason.) Your date is considered secured when I have your retainer and signed contract in my hot little hands. At that point, the date is yours and no one else can have it!

Sorry for the boring notes about the booking process, but I do reiterate it a couple of times per year so those that want to book understand the process! I try to make booking your wedding photography simple and no-fuss, but I have to operate in a manner that is fair to all parties. Booking is on a first-come, first-served basis as far as getting that contract and retainer in place. I take a set number of weddings per year, and once I reach that number, I close the books; and as stated earlier, I’m very close to that number for 2014.

Also, just to close out on the process, a reminder that final payment is due 14 days (2 weeks) prior to your wedding date. We’ll set up a final consultation prior to your date to go over the timeline and details, and after that point I create and send your final invoice. Of course, you may pay any amount at any time, and I do get couples who choose to break their balance up into payments over time and this is totally fine!

I am so looking forward to 2014 and so excited that my season is almost completely set in stone! Look for many wonderful weddings to hit the blog this fall as we head into “busy season number two” in September and October, plus a chance to meet some of my great 2014 clients as they begin shooting their engagement sessions. Below is a preview from one such couple, Matt and Alison, who shot their session during last week’s heat! Their blog highlights will be coming your way as well as Samer and Anna’s wedding highlights, both in the next few days.

Have a great holiday weekend!

I have print sales two times per year; over the holidays and this sale, which starts June 1st and runs through June 15! The discount code “SDPSummer” entered at checkout provides a 25% discount on all products that can be ordered through my proofing galleries (please note albums are not included). A bit of a note for this year: I switched to a new proofing system at the start of the year; so, the procedure for accessing your gallery, no matter when your session was shot, is as follows:

1. go to my main website, www.sarahdickersonphoto.com
2. click on “client proofs”, which will take you to my NEW proofing site
3. If your session/wedding was shot in 2013, navigate to your gallery and have fun shopping!
4. If your session/wedding was shot in 2012 or before, click on the “2012 and prior proofs” link to the left of the slideshow on the main page.
This will take you to the old proofing site, and you can navigate to your gallery.

If you need any assistance, please email me . The discount code “SDPSummer” will work in both proofing sites! So….mark your calendars, start making your selections, and get ready to save starting June 1st!

winter boudoir marathon dates announced!

January 2nd, 2013

First of all, if you’ve not headed over to my boudoir site, SDP Boudoir, you might want to do so! (and like SDP Boudoir on Facebook!) I LOVE doing boudoir sessions. First of all, if you’ve not headed over to my boudoir site, SDP Boudoir, you might want to do so! (and like SDP Boudoir on Facebook!) I LOVE doing boudoir sessions. During the wedding off-season, I schedule “boudoir marathon” days with CaraSue Hall of Dalla Cima Salon (located right across the hall from my studio, how convenient!) on selected Saturdays. These “marathon” sessions are a bit shorter than full sessions, therefore a bit less expensive, but they aren’t short on fun! (if you’d like a complete pricing guide including full session packages, email me!)

The marathon sessions are one hour long (plus approximately 45-minutes to an hour with CaraSue prior to starting your session, so plan to be with us for 2 hours) and we’ll shoot as many outfits as we can during that time, but 4 changes is a good average. We do about 6-7 sessions on these days. Our dates are January 26th and March 9th. Warning: the second date always fills first because people want to “lose those 5 pounds” πŸ˜‰ – so if you want the March date, act fast!

There are two package options. The first is $399 and includes 25 of your favorite images on DVD with a printing release. The second is $450 and includes a gorgeous 6×6 leather album (click here for a sample layout!). Both options include hair and makeup by CaraSue in the pricing.

If you’re interested in booking, hop to it! Our winter sessions last year filled completely. To book your session, email me for a contract – once you send that in with a $75 deposit, your date and time are secured and good to go (don’t worry, if we have bad weather/slick roads we’ll reschedule everyone). If you say pretty please I can probably get electronic files to you in time for Valentine’s Day with the January 26th session (albums CANNOT be delivered in time, however).Β These sessions are a stunning gift for your husband-to-be, for an anniversary, birthday, or “just because”.
