siblings being silly

the ladies quickly found a way to seek shelter from those CRAZY (chilly) winds!

when we got back to Memorial Hall and completed the family photos, we had about 30 minutes until ceremony time. I’d envisioned this shot in the cavernous arena all afternoon – and had just minutes to bring it to life (Andrea wanted a dancing shot – one taken outside of the reception!)

I greatly anticipated Sara and Rick’s wedding. Sara’s mother Stephanie promised lots of gorgeous details (she was right, but I had no reason to doubt her as she’d hired my former shop-mate Shana Vaughn Designs to do the floral work!). Hawthorne House is probably my favorite venue in Kansas City to shoot. And most importantly, in shooting Rick and Sara’s engagement session, I knew this was a couple who was deeply, madly in love with each other and who were a LOT of fun to be around. Seriously, what a blast! And so, these two were married on a gorgeous, mid-60 degree November day, surrounded by caring family and fun friends. Lots of tears, lots of laughs, all of which are shown below. Enjoy.

Whitney and Scott hail from Rochester, Minnesota and were married in St. Louis, Missouri – so it goes without saying that I’d not met them before their wedding day! I was in for a real treat, however, as they were a joy to spend a gorgeous fall day with in western Illinois and eastern Missouri. The two were married in Alton, Illinois with a reception in downtown St. Louis – and the day and the weather could not have been more perfect and more gorgeous. And unlike Kansas City, which is experiencing the 3rd driest fall in history, St. Louis actually HAS some fall color so it was great to work it into the images.

Congratulations to these two – and many thanks to Mike Tsai for making the trek across the state with me to 2nd shoot!

Kristen, Brendan, their families and wedding party were a blast to work with. Their wedding last Saturday at Hillcrest Christian Church (and reception at Ball Conference Center) were CHOCK FULL of personal touches – Kristen’s mother did the decor! This was truly a fall wedding – everything about the colors and the day screamed out “October!” And our stop after the wedding to do bride and groom and wedding party portraits? I really don’t need to say anything, just look at the images below. Timed oh-so-perfectly with the absolute best light of the day, these are some of my favorite images of 2011. Big thanks to Kelly Knetter for assisting, and BIG congratulations to Kristen, Brendan, and their proud families!

I’ve known Christine for quite some time so I’ve looked forward to her wedding all season. She and Bayler had a fantastic wedding day; the weather here in the midwest continues to be extremely dry and mild, which bodes well for all of the fall weddings on the schedule! In fact, it was almost TOO warm! Rather than try to describe the day, I’ll let the photos do the talking this time – it’s late and I want to get this up so Christine and Bayler can see their sneak preview. Katy and Corey are both artists, and Corey is an avid photographer himself. So they had planned their day SO WELL to allow for incredible shots – and of course this photogenic bunch and incredible families didn’t hurt at all. I mean, Katy’s dad and his crazy laughs! We started the day with prep at the Hyatt Regency, then headed to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art for the duo’s first look and some wedding party photos. After the ceremony at the OLD, GORGEOUS St. Mary’s Episcopal Church on the east side of downtown Kansas City, we shot around town right at sunset before heading into the Cadillac Room for the party – and it WAS a party ,partly due to Craig Loftis of Elite Sounds Entertainment and his incredible DJ skills. The dance floor was HOPPING! Katy and Corey are enjoying a honeymoon in Barcelona (!) so I’m super excited for them to get back and see their sneak peek. Here you go, guys!

Kassy and Cody first shot with me last winter for their engagement session, RIGHT after a snowstorm (the roads were still marginally bad) – Cody was home from deployment so it was kind of a “must-do” situation that turned out to be one of my favorite sessions of the year. This time around, for their Club 1000 wedding, they had PICTURE PERFECT weather. What a sweet, loving couple. I absolutely got choked up several times during their wedding (and this photographer sees a LOT of weddings ) and who couldn’t love the doggie ring-bearer “assistant” Bagel? (Who couldn’t love a name like BAGEL!) Without further adieu, here’s the story of their day, in pictures.

The second of last weekend’s doubleheader was Danielle and Tyler – they of the right-up-my-alley aviation-themed engagement shoot last spring These two had just as gorgeous a day as Ashlee and Chris had the day before – sunny, light breeze, PERFECT temperature. It was another awesome day and this one was so filled with emotion and “awww” moments that myself and second shooter Mike Tsai were able to capture, that there’s a fair amount of photojournalistic shots in this blog post. From Danielle’s touching, tearful opening of Tyler’s card and present to all of the incredible moments we captured during the reception, this day was SO full of “awwww….” moments. Here they are!
