Derek + Lesley | Atchison, Kansas country engagement

September 12th, 2014

I shot Derek’s brother’s wedding a few years back, and I had a blast working with his family. So I was very excited to book Derek’s wedding with his sweet fiancé, Lesley, this year! We shot their session on their acreage as well as on Lesley’s parent’s farm. This is the type of session that […]

I shot Derek’s brother’s wedding a few years back, and I had a blast working with his family. So I was very excited to book Derek’s wedding with his sweet fiancé, Lesley, this year! We shot their session on their acreage as well as on Lesley’s parent’s farm. This is the type of session that is right up my alley!

It’s been an incredibly busy and at times stressful summer, and I’m just now getting to a point where I can start getting my blog up to date. I have so much to share! In fact, what timing on this post, as Derek and Lesley are getting married TOMORROW in Atchison!

Enjoy the photos.

Angela + Braden | Atchison railroad engagement session

June 28th, 2012

Braden loves everything having to do with trains and the railroad. So when he and Angela contacted me about shooting their engagement portraits for them, I HAD to find something that would work this theme into the session. Braden loves everything having to do with trains and the railroad. So when he and Angela contacted me about shooting their engagement portraits for them, I HAD to find something that would work this theme into the session. As you know, wandering onto railroad property will land you in a heap of trouble (actually, a lot of photographers DON’T know that 😉 ) – so the Atchison Rail museum came to mind, having made a stop there during Brad and Abby’s wedding in 2011. Atchison isn’t much of a drive for me, living near KCI – but these two live in southern Johnson County! I mentioned it offhand not expecting a serious interest due to the drive – but they jumped all over it. And what a FUN location! We then hit Weston Bend State Park on the way home for some outdoorsy shots at sunset. Congratulations Angela and Braden, and lucky you getting married in Miami later this year!! 🙂

Brad + Abby: engaged (and Parker and Payton, too!) | Atchison, Kansas

November 1st, 2010

I met Brad and Abby as well as Abby’s twins Parker and Payton in Atchison, Kansas last Monday (yeah, I’ve got blog backlog officially now..), where we shot around both the Forest of Friendship at Warnock Lake as well as on the Benedictine College campus. The whole family are huge football buffs (and players, in […]

I met Brad and Abby as well as Abby’s twins Parker and Payton in Atchison, Kansas last Monday (yeah, I’ve got blog backlog officially now..), where we shot around both the Forest of Friendship at Warnock Lake as well as on the Benedictine College campus. The whole family are huge football buffs (and players, in Parker’s case!) and really wanted to work that into their shoot as well as getting some gorgeous fall shots at the Forest of Friendship. The session was Brad and Abby’s official engagement session – I’ll be shooting their wedding next May – but Abby wanted to make sure to include the kids in the shoot so it obviously had a family session twist as well! What a fun, close family this is. Looking forward to next May!! (and Abby made me promise not to make fun of the Cowboys (as demonstrated in the images below, they are huge fans!) and she would not make fun of Mizzou (yes, last Saturday was a bitter pill to swallow)…..) So, yeah, um…..go Chiefs! 😀

I’m embarrassed, as a female pilot, to say I’ve never been to the Forest of Friendship, which was put together in part by the Ninety-Nines, a national organization of women pilots. It’s really pretty, serene, and well….we visited an adjoining pasture as well.
