Lindsay and Aaron really needed to get their engagement session in – as Aaron is a firefighter and Lindsay is about to start a new job, we all knew scheduling could become a monstrous issue. Lindsay made the call eaaarrly Monday morning to go ahead and shoot despite a large area of rain moving into town – and between shooting around indoor spaces (including in the Link at Crown Center where they were engaged!), and braving it in the rain with an umbrella, they ended up with a really unique session. These two will be getting married in August in Topeka!

I have, oh, at LEAST 4 sessions and two weddings that will be hitting the blog this week. So I can keep it short and sweet and keep truckin’ on with work…here’s Danny and Andrea’s engagement session from last week – we covered a LOT of territory over the course of the shoot so we ran out of light at the end of the shoot – but I love working with off-camera flash, so really enjoyed the results from the end of the shoot. You’ll see more of this super sweet couple next June when I shoot their wedding!!

Amy and Travis JUST are in the process of moving to Kansas City – Amy is still in grad school in Kentucky and Travis is new to town, having been located here for his job. They both hail from Louisville, Kentucky, home to a lot of MY family! They are SO new to town, they’d not even been to the Plaza yet – so our shooting around Loose Park and the Plaza was all completely foreign to them.
We started the shoot RIGHT at sunset, so got some gorgeous light plus even a bit of nighttime shooting on the Plaza itself. Enjoy!

Katie and Jason wanted to start bright and early last Friday morning for their engagement session on the Plaza and at Loose Park, so we had some fantastic light to work with. I LOVE this couple! So personable and look at those smiles! Katie’s laugh is just infectious. They are one of those couples that just have a good natural connection – which makes them very easy to shoot. I will NOT say the same, however, about their dog Lucy – who is JUST like her red-headed namesake. She decided she didn’t like the sound of my shutter and would turn her head away from me! Little booger.
We did get some super cute shots of her nonetheless – I credit my time shooting horses with being super quick on the trigger finger the few times she gave me her full attention! You’ll also notice on the last shot that Katie and Jason’s household is definitely a house divided – and to save them grief, I will not post the shots of them wearing each other’s school’s shirts.
VERY much looking forward to working with these two on their wedding day in November!

Congrats again guys!
Candace and Tim brought their dog Max along for part of the session. Who I kept calling “Rudy”….for some reason he reminded me of my late grandmother’s dog.

Candace and Tim requested shots at the spot where they got engaged. ![]()

Have fun with your wedding planning, guys, and good luck to Kevin as he starts graduate school in Texas!

Becky + Adam: Kauffman Stadium engagement sessionMay 5th, 2010Becky and Adam share a love for softball and baseball – they both play in co-ed leagues and Adam is a walking Royals encyclopedia that probably rivals my husband’s knowledge of the team (Lord help us if the two ever got together). Becky and Adam share a love for softball and baseball – they both play in co-ed leagues and Adam is a walking Royals encyclopedia that probably rivals my husband’s knowledge of the team (Lord help us if the two ever got together). When Becky told me that she wanted their engagement session to center around baseball and/or softball and preferably at a ballpark somewhere in town, we aimed for the big Kahuna – the Kansas City Royals. She wanted to surprise Adam with the shoot location, but couldn’t keep it to herself (understandably!). What an awesome location and even more awesome than the location was the natural connection these two have. I think it’s pretty evident in the shots. Many thanks to our tour guide, Ben, who gave us the royal treatment (no pun intended) and carted us around on a golf cart.
After leaving “the K”, we went to The Point near the Country Club Plaza, a place where Becky and Adam first met by chance and well…you know the rest of the story!
Again, look for these two again soon when I shoot their wedding in early July!

warning, good light junkies: this post is full of it. Gorgeous, incredible light.

Hey, I mentioned the light, right?

Adam shares the same birthday as George Brett. As such, he’s a huge George Brett fan. I can identify. I grew up watching the Royals when they were AWESOME – not to date myself, but I was in 7th grade when they won the ’85 World Series. I too loved George Brett. Perhaps a bit TOO much, I was always number 5 in softball and soccer, and I used to have childhood angst that he had to be so much older than I so I couldn’t marry him :p

Another George Brett tribute inside the Royals Hall of Fame: 3,154 baseballs make up the number 5 – his total number of career hits – in the center is the bat that garnered him his 3,000th hit.

Off to The Point, and a few shots in the street and open grass across the street.
