Lauren + Grant | ANOTHER hot engagement session in Kansas City

July 14th, 2012

This heat is seriously getting ridiculous. Most of my clients have decided to press ahead in lieu of rescheduling, but what else can you do when it’s forecast to be 100+ for as long as the forecast even goes? With another heat wave (and at least a week of 100+ degree temps leading into my […]

This heat is seriously getting ridiculous. Most of my clients have decided to press ahead in lieu of rescheduling, but what else can you do when it’s forecast to be 100+ for as long as the forecast even goes? With another heat wave (and at least a week of 100+ degree temps leading into my vacation coming our way, I’m told…) on the horizon, it’s fitting that Lauren and Grant’s engagement session is up on the blog. We chose a couple of indoor locations to break up our time in the 103-ish degree heat, and started in the downtown KC Public Library, which is such a fun place to shoot (as long as you’re discreet 😉 ). We then toasted ourselves on the streets of downtown Kansas City for a while, then again cooled off in Union Station before finishing up around the fountain out front. These two are SO lucky to be getting married in a much COOLER month – December! My next two weddings, and last two until August, will be near 100 and 105, according to the forecast…STAY COOL everyone! And we’ll see you in December, Lauren and Grant!

Glori + Toby: engaged | Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

I met Glori and Toby at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art late one afternoon about a week and a half ago; before the snow hit, before the bottom fell out on the temperatures. It was actually a mild afternoon! The light was glorious on the lawn at the Nelson; even more, these two were so into each other and the session. Light, laughter, love, what more could a portrait photographer want? We then headed to the Plaza branch of the Kansas City Public Library; Glori had said we could leave the stop out if we ran short on time (they really wanted to finish with a shot with the lights on the Plaza) – I’m glad we didn’t as these two are admitted bookworms and the setting was SO fun. I love working couples’ interests into their sessions – and although I was a bit worried about shooting in the library, the security guard smiled and winked at us as she walked by. 🙂
