Guys, bear with me because this is going to be a long one with lots of details about a SALE! (both a portrait session sale and print sale) and plans for next year! To save you the reading before we get to the part about next year….first, the SALE!

  1. ALL PRINTS and DIGITAL DOWNLOADS are 25% off through midnight on Friday, December 15th. How to get the discount? Easy peasy. Visit my online proofing site, find your gallery (need help? Shoot me an email ). Enter 25OFF at checkout.
  2. SESSIONS ARE ON SALE! Book them for yourself, or to give as a gift. These are all on sale through Christmas, then my rates will be going up slightly for the first time in over 5 years. Right now both mini and full sessions are 25% off of the 2017 rates, which means it will be an even STEEPER discount over 2018 rates! Go to my booking site to take advantage – click the “GIFT CERTIFICATE” link for the type of session you’d like, and you will receive a code to enter when you want to schedule your session on down the line. What a deal!

Any questions at ALL about either sale, please do not hesitate to shoot me an email!

Now, about the rest of the items regarding 2018! First, a quick reminder about how my schedule and scheduling system works. Since I get my work schedule for any given month around the 18th of the month prior (so for instance, December 18th I get my January schedule), I load my schedule into my online booking system at that time. IF YOU PREPAID FOR ONE OF THE ABOVE SALE SESSIONS, please shoot me an email and indicate approximately when you think you’d like to schedule your shoot. I will add you to my monthly list of clients who get FIRST ACCESS to my schedule before I release it to the public here and on my Facebook page. That’s right, you get a shoot on sale AND first dibs on scheduling! So again if you interested in, for example, a May shoot, my May schedule will go on my booking site by April 18th or thereabouts. If you pre-paid for a sale session and indicated you would like a May session, you’ll get an email about the shoot before I release my schedule to anyone else and make it public. Why do I do this? Some months, I may not have as much availability due to a vacation or trip, recurrent training, or holidays. I obviously honor my commitment to shoot the prepaid clients first, and then any new bookings after that.

The second item: I am CONSIDERING doing winter minis in a FANTASTIC studio/loft location in the west bottoms. I just used this studio last weekend for a shoot – and with brick walls, sliding big barn doors, old wood floors, and mega amounts of props and furniture…not to mention divine natural light, I can tell you I am super super excited about this opportunity! However, since this studio costs me money to book for a half or full day, I need to know who might be interested before doing any further planning. So….if this interests you, please fill out my short survey!! These sessions can be family sessions, kiddos only, a quick high school senior session….

And that’s a wrap! Enjoy your holidays! (and I hope you enjoyed these previews from a handful of sessions shot in November and early December!)

2017 Session Information and a SPRING SALE!

March 11th, 2017

SDP has had a very quiet winter as I settle into my new career. However, Daylight Savings returns tonight, Spring is (mostly!) in the air, and it’s time to think about portrait sessions again! SDP has had a very quiet winter as I settle into my new career. However, Daylight Savings returns tonight, Spring is (mostly!) in the air, and it’s time to think about portrait sessions again! I continue to offer family, senior, engagement, newborn, or any other kind of portrait session on a part-time basis. My schedule is posted each month, by the 19th of the previous month, on my booking page which can be accessed here or by clicking the “availability calendar” link at the top of this page under the “info and pricing” tab.

Right now, I have session availability for this month (March) posted, beginning March 22nd, and continuing through the end of the month. April’s dates will be posted when I receive my April work schedule (no later than March 19th). I do hope to host a mini session day in April; however, this will be dependent upon me getting a good weekend day off next month! (A side note: I should have plenty of session availability in April and May, but June will likely be a very limited month for me due to my annual recurrent training at the airline, which requires a substantial amount of online coursework, study, and preparation.)

And the most important part of this post – I am, for the first time EVER, having a session sale! Book now and save on your session fee, whether a full or mini session! To do so, again, visit the links above to book your session, and instead choose one of the two “gift certificate” options. You will pay now, but can use anytime in 2017! You will receive a code via email that you can redeem for a session and book immediately with the quick link provided, or book later, even this fall! If you have any questions about the sale, which runs through next Friday the 17th, please shoot me an email.

Ella’s session started a bit late in the evening due to her work schedule, so we did something a bit non-traditional and lit up some dusk/night shots for the last stretch of her session. I ended up being in love with those images! Just a reminder that if you don’t think you have enough time for a weeknight session, whether it be for a senior session or an engagement session, you just may after all 😉 I’ve developed a bit of a reputation for night shots and off-camera lighting, so if you’d like shots like the few at the end, we can by all means schedule appropriately! And speaking of schedule, it’s not too early to get your 2016 seniors on the calendar. I’ll be releasing a BRAND new series of websites early next week with easy-to-find pricing and I’m super excited about my new look…so stay tuned!

Congratulations to Ella – I absolutely loved her smile and her laugh throughout this session…positively infectious!

Nick J | Kansas City Crossroads senior portraits

November 15th, 2012

Meet Nick, an awesome hockey player from Rockhurst with one AWESOME car. I had a lot of fun shooting around the Crossroads with Nick (if you could SEE some of our outtakes!) and here’s just a sampling of what we came away with!

Kelly was originally scheduled for her senior portraits the week before we shot them – and we postponed, as it had been raining, and was cloudy and dreary. She really liked the sun in a lot of my work, so we pushed the session back a week to this Monday which dawned…cloudy, stormy and dreary. Luckily, it cleared out and we had a great evening for her session! Isn’t she a gorgeous girl? We shot this session around Parkville, Missouri – and although there is flooding all around the city, as you can see there are plenty of GREAT areas to shoot that are just fine!

Jocie is a senior at Shawnee Mission South, and will be attending Pitt State next year along with Matt, who is a freshman there. Congratulations on your upcoming graduation, Jocie, you were a lot of fun to work with!

Matt joined in on a few photos at the start of the session – aren’t these two adorable?
