Tabitha S | from Texas to Wisconsin for her senior session!

I’ve known Tabitha for a few years; her family also vacations in Wisconsin at the fly-in that my husband Jim and I attend each year. Still, I was honored when she contacted me a few weeks before our trip this year to see if I could do her senior portraits while we were up there. I thought logistically it might be kind of *fun* doing senior photos while we are all camping, but with a few minutes borrowed in a travel trailer of another fly-in attendee to primp and do makeup, we were set! What fun this was. Tabitha’s family life is strongly rooted in aviation, so she wanted a large part of her session to revolve around it. That was easy; we were camping at an airport! So, our location for the shoot was none other than the New Holstein Municipal Airport in New Holstein, Wisconsin. We picked a nice cool evening for the session that gave us some incredible light; the weather was on and off hot and stormy so we had to carefully choose a good evening! (the pig roast on Wednesday that draws hundreds of town folk to the airport and our fly-in probably was not going to be one of them). Tabitha is a bright, sweet girl with plans to go into the Navy – and I’m sure whatever she does, she’ll be incredibly successful. Tabitha, here’s your sneak peek and hope to see you again soon!

Emily T and equine friends | Blue Springs senior portraits

April 30th, 2012

I did Emily’s senior session last week on the beautiful grounds of her family’s farm with her three horses. What a gorgeous place to shoot! And what a good looking group of horses to compliment the session! (of course I’m biased, being an arabian owner myself…) One more senior session to go this week, and […]

Congratulations, Emily!

Sarah K | Nelson-Atkins Museum senior portraits

April 24th, 2012

What a fun senior session I had with Sarah (nice name!) at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art last week. Such an elegant setting and really fit well with her desire to incorporate her viola into the session a bit. And those tomato-red shoes – I WANT! 🙂 I’ll let the pictures do the talking, as […]

Alexis and her mom met me on super short notice one brisk but beautiful morning last week for her senior portraits. What fun I had with them! What fun I had using my wonderful little studio for part of the session, as well as the grounds around the building. Just a fun, fun session all around! I absolutely love working with seniors and I’ve had a great bunch this spring. Can’t wait for the fall rush! 🙂 And this much needs to be said: I KNOW it’s hard to get up in the morning and get ready for a photo shoot. I KNOW it usually requires taking time away from work or school. But let me say – for a portrait session of any kind – be it senior, family, engagement, it’s worth it (I mean come on, it’s ONE morning). Look at the gorgeous light we had below…and see if you agree. It’s SO worth it. 🙂 (not to mention, you can get a session booked easily where I’m otherwise totally full up on evening sessions!) Enjoy!

Meghan F | Parkville Missouri senior portrait session

April 9th, 2012

Meghan’s first attempt at her senior portraits turned into a nasty, drizzly, rainy day – so I was thrilled that we got a warm, sunny, almost summer-like day for her rescheduled session. Love her infectious smile! 🙂

Lindsey C | A country and city senior portrait session

November 6th, 2011

We had a gorgeous day and some incredible light for her session last week, and Lindsey taught me a bit about various species of trees here in the Kansas/Missouri area 😉 (seriously, the girl can identify nearly any leaf out there!) Seriously, dendrology knowledge aside, this is one beautiful young lady!

Tucker P | another fantastic fall senior portrait session

Tucker’s session is the 3rd of 4 high school senior sessions to hit the blog this week – you can tell the mad rush has been on to take advantage of warmer fall weather and the super dry conditions we’ve had – another few weeks and portrait sessions will start slowing down (which means it’s a great time to get on the schedule quickly and easily – late fall and even winter portraits are absolutely gorgeous!) We had a lot of fun with his dogs and checking out some gorgeous places to shoot right around his home. Sometimes you don’t have to go very far at all to get unique and great shot locations!

Cole C | Liberty High School senior session

November 3rd, 2011

We shot Cole’s senior session last Friday morning at his grandparent’s place – which was absolutely gorgeous albeit a bit frosty. Cole made sure to bring some Cardinals swag – given that they’d won the World Series the night before, I’d say that was appropriate 🙂
