Last weekend was a looong weekend for me. I’ll admit it, it darn near killed me. Two fantastic but very long days back to back – the first of which was Maiya and Brandon’s Saturday wedding. Both theirs and Kristen and Ahmed’s wedding (hitting the blog Thursday!!) were SO amazing, I just cannot wait to share them. The kind of weddings that keep me going as a photographer even when my poor swollen feet say “enough!”
I had second shooter Geoff Poitras to help with this one – and he did an outstanding job. He covered the guys getting ready in Fairway while I covered the girls at Par Exsalonce in Overland Park. Seriously, I have the best second shooters ever!
Maiya and Brandon’s day was FULL of celebration. So full that when we made their pre-planned stop by Harling’s in Westport – seriously a “hole in the wall” bar if I ever saw one – we WAY overstayed our scheduled time because a) everyone was having so much fun and b) the place was flippin’ awesome to photograph. You’ll see. Then the reception? What a party! The Town Pavilion is GORGEOUS in its evening job as a reception facility, and the party was absolutely insane. The family dance, “the gator” had everyone rolling – and so did Maiya’s grandfather. If the gator didn’t steal the show, he DID with his dancing and his advice on staying happily married.
Congratulations Maiya and Brandon, you and your entire wedding party (and families) were a pleasure to work with. Enjoy Aruba! (PS Geoff has a KILLER sequence of one of Brandon’s groomsmen doing a face plant while running up 19th Terrace when we were shooting in the Crossroads area – for brevity’s sake I’ll leave it off, but trust me, it’s HILARIOUS!)
seriously. ridiculously. gorgeous.

..the newlyweds were off to Harling’s in Westport. This place was seriously cool to shoot. In a grungy, torn-up, amazing sort of way.

Maiya’s grandpa seriously tore. it. up.
