I first shot with Megan and Jeff almost exactly one year ago. I remember it well. It was a chilly, but fun, engagement session and we were finishing up in Kansas City’s Union Station. I had done a shot of the two on the stairs; the natural light coming in from a nearby window was incredible. So excited, I rushed down the stairs and FELL. Yep, missed a step. The only thing that stopped me from going down an entire half-flight of stairs was Jeff, grabbing me as I fell into them. Sore, and pride hurt a bit, we parted ways…but it was after the session I realized how much I loved these two. Megan actually not only sent me a text message later that day, but emailed me the next day to make sure I was okay (I was).
Both of these two are absolute sweethearts and honestly, I’ve looked forward to their wedding for quite some time. Although it was frigid cold, I was even more excited that we had a fresh blanket of snow to work with. Megan and Jeff had connections with a Kansas State Representative; so we weren’t limited to outside shots after the ceremony, we had the rare opportunity to shoot inside the state capitol building.
It was a LONG day – especially with the drive to and from Kansas City – but these two are so thoughtful, and their families SO sweet, that the day was a breeze. It was also aided by seriously the best wedding planner around – Lyn Scardina of Events!.
While I type this we have a RAGING snowstorm outside. Megan and Jeff are enjoying a CRUISE. Lucky them! I think they’re lucky for a lot of other reasons, too.
Many thanks to Mike Tsai for second shooting!
